iphone craze

The iphone craze has hit our house. All Dave talks about is the iphone can do this, it can do that, check this out. Will I ever hear the end of the iphone. It is a pretty cool phone, i'd compare it to the PDA phone I used to have. But better because it is touch easier to move the pages about with 2 fingers than 1 stylus. Nice big and clear screen and easy to use. It is not for everyone though. I myself wont get one for it is too big to carry around as phone and way not worth the price. I am a devoted Samsung fan ;) I think most peope get an iphone will only use it as a phone and music player. Give it a week or two and our house will be back to the usual routine, until the next gadget comes along to disrupt the peace.

Surfing naked!!!

Finally back on the internet after almost 2 weeks of no internet. Does it really take that long reconnect the internet? You'd think that the internet providers do this for a living should have this process down packed since this is there bread and butter. How hard is it to disconnect and reconnect when we are with the same provider. And yes, we are naked ;). Why have a phone line when you can have voip and the quality is the same. Sorry Rita, we had to use you as our telephone line quality tester.

We had internet at work, on our phone so we weren't 100% isolated from the web. It did restrict us quite a bit at home. You come to realise how much we depend on it. When you have that question you not sure of the answer you can google it. Look up restaurant phone numbers or plan what to do over the weekend. But the internet is also the biggest time waster. You can spend hours on it and when you leave your PC you think to yourself what have I done. I didn't even turn on my PC for the whole time we had no internet. There was no point visiting the study since I had no internet and to log into work. It was almost like a holiday from work. I always answered, can't do it no internet access from home.

Maybe we should switch off the home internet every so often so we can have a life outside of work and sitting inside.

Whats New?

After a long break life is so wonderful. Spending time with the family during xmas. Never a dull moment with the family and plenty of food. Never stopped eating. I think we covered all of sydney and central coast. The holiday at the Sunshine coast was so relaxing. The best way to relax in your holidays is to get away from your home. Otherwise you end up cleaning and not enjoying your time off.

Then it is the dread of going back to work. First day back at work, everyone is so happy. Sifting through the hundreds of emails. You look forward to the change in the new year. After a day or 2 you notice nothing has changed in the office. Less people as they slowly return to work. With each new return of people back at work, it brings you back to reality. Same work no change. You hope for a miracle that something exciting is going to happen. Nope, reality sinks in again that I will be working for another 30 years or more. Maybe I will win the lotto and quit.

Don't worry already planning my next holiday or many mini getaways.

Check out the Diamond Princess. I can always dream.

Count down to holiday

Only 4 weeks till my holiday. Looking foward to a long break after a year of hard work. We work hard all year only to get 4 weeks of holiday. Is it worth working that hard all year only to be told that there will be no pay rise and a modest bonus. Maybe I should be grateful that I still have a job. I have to wait to confirm this Friday if I still have my job. There are quite substantial job cuts in my company. There has been plenty of communications and warnings that this was going to happen, but until it happened today it was hard to imagine. The morale was down as everyone was trying to speculate who is going and what is going to remain of the project if all the contractors are gone. With the current economic times, it will be difficult for people to get another job. Also with Xmas just around the corner and all the expenses still continuing to increase, how will some people cope. Still I am counting down to my holidays, spending time at central coast, cronulla, up at Noosa. Lots of sand, water and sunshine. Let's see what happens this Friday...

To Blog or not to Blog

You have to be really disciplined to keep a blog up to date and make it interesting for others to read. Or it could just be a journal for one to look back on. But now that summer is here, why do I want to stay indoors in front of the PC and blog. But then I see so many people spend hours over facebook when they could be catching up with their friends the old fashioned way. Having a conversation over the old fashioned home telephone. Or catching up with friends in person. People are too time poor to stop and remember to do the things that they used to enjoy. Making time to catch up with friends and family. We barely have time to stop and enjoy life. Or rather most people are living life through the internet. Watching or reading about what others have done. I am so looking forward to my xmas holiday and time off to unwind from 2008.

By the way don't forget to do your tax return if you haven't already done it. Its due this week.

Mona in Black

Now all that remains is the black pieces missing. I am really starting to suspect that there are pieces missing. Wish there was a quicker way to complete this. I want my dining table back. We had some friends over and we had to bring the outside table inside just so we can have a meal on a table.

Mona Forming

Huge cruise ship

This is one me my favourite cruise ships. I prefer the modern big ships. You can see the small sydney ferry on the left and one me the large ferry on the right. Just to the left of the large ferry is the matilda catamaran. This puts things in perspective. Bad photo, this was taken under cover to avoid the rain.

Mona in pieces

Due to Tina's influence, we resurrected our Mona Lisa. She was sitting under the couch looking really sad. We made some good progress tonight, we completed the top section near her head. The majority of the 1000 piece puzzle is black. Hopefully we havent lost any to the vacuum cleaner.
